So I have been reading blogs here for the past few weeks and decided that everyone needs to have one. When somthing just tickles your nose funny and you want to tell the world all about it, you definitely should! It's even better that a psychiatrist... no closed doors, no big bill for an hour of ranting, and you never know who may gain insight from your nose tickle.
My pondering for today....
Every moring I sit here in the morning at this large custom wood desk to greet college students as they set out for morning classes. (In reality they call me security... I personally prefer "Morning Dose of Sunshine"). I only catch a small handful people that actually smile (or look awake for that matter). It got me to thinking today... What triggers a morning person versus a night owl?
I personally can do just about either. As I get older I enjoy my sleep more and more, but a good night has never stopped me. Even if I am the one out late, I am still up bright and early to greet with a smile to all of those non-smilers. On another note -- I also don't do coffee. So that is not an excuse!
Do our parents play a role in our smile meter? Is the reason I smile all the time due to the fact that I was up early as a child and active? I see so many today who rise to the noon sun, not the morning one. Seems like such a waste of a day really.
Oh well, today is a day for pondering and I pondered enough. My conclusion... I smile because I can find a reason everyday to do so. It doesn't mean that I had the best childhood, teenage years, or college years, it just means that I am optimistic and cheery. In my optimism I know that my smile can bring someone else to a smile today.
