I'll be the first to admit I bet against him in all three of the triple crown races. I seriously thought he was merely a flash in the pan...a big fatty that could roll out a few impressive wins and fold unimpressively as the competition got stronger, healthier, and the challenges that faced him got more impressive. Now, I eat my words.

Only a few emerge from the complete failure that was the Belmont Stakes to remain a force to be reckoned with, but Big Brown has continued to soar...and perhaps has learned from his boyish overconfidence. In his old days he would burn out a track. Squealing tires and all leaving horses 5, 8, 12 lengths to the dust. Following the hell, or triathalon if you prefer, he did come back. The Haskell stakes was hardly a triumphant victory...but alas, a victory.
The BIG BROWN machine proved his worth on Saturday taking on older horses in his first start since his maiden voyage to win the Monmouth stakes. Not by much mind you, but very obviously with heart and the kind of drive we see so rarely on the track. Today, I set aside my doubt. Curlin or not, you have proven yourself to me.
Good Luck BIG BROWN, I've got your back that mighty weekend in October. Get em' Baby! PS: Is he not the most beautiful man you have ever laid eyes on?
